Bruce Rennie

‘Fresh, full of flavour, food that looks appetising, and tastes great.’ That’s the philosophy of Bruce Rennie, the new Head Chef at the Clay Quay in Porthleven. . Bruce isn't too keen on food that features style over substance. ‘With good produce that’s cooked well, you can’t go wrong.’ he says.

And Bruce has the track record to prove it. Bruce made his name at Wishart’s in Edinburgh, a Michelin Starred restaurant that had its own Cookery School and very successful Cook book – with Bruce making a significant contribution to both. He had trained at Rhodes & Co, eventually becoming Head Chef at the popular Brasserie, then ran a Michelin starred kitchen in NI near Bangor for a year.

West Cornwall residents will know him much better though from his time at The Gurnard’s Head and the Coastguard where he oversaw the kitchens, bringing his own style, and gaining a reputation for flavour, imagination, and reliability.
